Webmaster

Pima Association of Governments seeks an experienced and versatile webmaster who has experience developing new, modifying existing and maintaining WordPress sites (i.e., keeping WordPress, PHP and plugins up to date). Joining the Communications Department, the ideal candidate will have excellent communication, customer service and team-building skills. In collaboration with the communications team, the webmaster will support content updates and develop new WordPress sites as required. The webmaster should be detail-oriented and clearly communicate with others, provide insights on improving user engagement and support analytical reporting. The webmaster will be responsible for ongoing website security updates, as well as addressing website structural improvements to maintain user-friendly and well-designed websites. Candidates must demonstrate experience in delivering creative website design on web infrastructure that ensures quality SEO performance. Must provide portfolio of your web design and build capabilities.

General Description Summary:

Under general supervision, will support the Communications Department by maintaining and updating all websites of Pima Association of Governments and the Regional Transportation Authority, manage site security, build and update web pages as assigned for WordPress websites, provide structural guidance, use website management tools that support web production and efficiencies, and develop site user analytical reports. Monitor site for ongoing structural consistency, allowing for flexibility and customization to achieve overall functional and aesthetic design on both desktop and mobile devices for quality user experience. Monitor website data and trends and provide insights on innovative web design applications to ensure PAG and RTA websites stay contemporary over time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Must demonstrate experience building efficient web infrastructure using WordPress to ensure quality user experience.

Must employ best practices for nonprofit websites to meet nonprofit mission, while recognizing and appreciating when and how to diverge from commercial site best practices.

Must be web-tech savvy with a blend of creative disposition, strong coding skills and experience using new web-based applications and content management systems, e.g. (WordPress, Sitefinity)

Ability to perform all technical functions of the job while advising on UX and design creativity.

Contribute positive, creative problem-solving when faced with novel or complex content scenarios.

Knowledge of current website software and general website user trends.

Follow SEO best practices; monitor and share SEO trends.

Excellent communication skills, especially the ability to clearly explain abstract concepts as a general practice and training colleagues as needed.

Review/monitor all content updates to support quality assurance.

Establish schedule for PAG program staff to review respective program content and notify the Communications team of necessary updates.

Monitor current and long-term site functionality and ease of use for memorable end-user experience.

Monitor and analyze performance of websites (e.g., traffic, conversions).

Maintain, configure and troubleshoot servers.

Optimize site loading speeds and capacity; maintain virtual and cloud-based servers, optimizing speeds.

Develop website user analytical reports.

Test desktop and mobile websites across browsers, operating systems and devices.

Perform necessary security and site updates, using firewalls and login pages as needed.

Debug pages and fix broken links or images.

Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise staff as assigned.

Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:

At a minimum, requires combination of knowledge, skills and abilities to perform duties AND EITHER a graduate degree in Computer Science, Design or a related discipline with a minimum of three years relevant industry experience, OR an undergraduate degree in the same disciplines, with a minimum of five years relevant industry experience OR equivalent.

Computer Skills:

Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets and databases to prepare documents, reports, and perform quantitative analysis. Strong working knowledge of all relevant coding languages (PHP, Javascript, HTML/CSS, XML, SQL).
