A Free Workshop – Registration Required

Enhancing the Mapping of Biking and Walking Infrastructure Regionwide

Attention Active Transportation Planning experts and GIS professionals!
You’re invited to attend a workshop for the Pima Association of Governments (PAG) Orthophoto Feature Extraction Classification project. During this session, led by Ecopia AI, you will receive an overview of project goals, hear about Ecopia’s novel AI capabilities and experience, participate in discussions about what data is needed to support the project and share feedback with other experts and stakeholders.

The key objectives of this workshop are:

  • Explore the feature extraction sample over the University of Arizona and discuss the variety of vector layers with width/impervious/vegetation attributes expected from the project
  • Make decisions on additional variables to extract such as unique local transportation terminology and geographical or climate resilience considerations of the desert region which could impact the mapping exercise
  • Discuss ideas for case studies on how to use the data that will aid in the objective of carbon reduction, increased active transportation safety, and improved quality of life for citizens within the greater Tucson region
  • Provide an open forum for stakeholders to provide project feedback and help make the final shapefile deliverable and information tables as detailed and accurate as possible
  • Learn about how the active mode infrastructure data will fill regional data gaps and will be layered with traffic stress and other amenities to provide a level of service analysis and aid the development of the Regional Active Transportation Plan
