Who We Are
Pima Association of Governments is a metropolitan planning organization for the greater Tucson region and an association of local, state and tribal governments that works to build consensus among its members and the public on regional planning for transportation, water quality, air quality and economic vitality.
Metropolitan Planning
our work
PAG is a federally required and state-designated metropolitan planning organization (MPO). This means it represents the government agencies in the region to secure federal funding for transportation improvements through long-range planning activities and short-range transportation improvement programming. PAG is also federally required to conduct regional air quality, water quality and solid waste planning.
Regional Council
governing body
PAG is governed by a nine-member Regional Council, made up of the chief elected or appointed official from each of the member governments: Pima County, Tucson, South Tucson, Marana, Oro Valley, Sahuarita, the Pascua Yaqui Tribe and Tohono O’odham Nation, and the Arizona State Transportation Board.
Committees
decision making
Pima Association of Government uses committees to guide its activities by involving member jurisdictions in regional discussions and decision making; share knowledge and responsibility for action, and access specialized skills in the community. Policy advisory committees and technical committees review plans and programs as they are developed, vet proposals, and help shape the planning and implementation of PAG’s work.
Regional Partnerships
our partners
The Regional Transportation Authority and the Regional Partnering Center are the formal partnerships PAG has established to carry out regionally significant priorities and projects. Partnerships may be formed to advance PAG’s goal of connecting the region through data, education and information to improve the mobility, sustainability and livability of our region.
