A 1% undercount in Arizona would represent a loss to the state of $62 million per year for a decade and for a total loss of $620 million, according to the Arizona Complete Count Committee.
As of Sept. 28, Pima County’s self-response rate was 67%, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The national response rate was 66.4% and Arizona’s response rate was 63.5%.
“Amid our COVID-19 environment, this is an opportunity to come together and make a positive difference that will shape the future of our state, region and communities for the next decade,” said Marana Mayor Ed Honea, chair of the Pima Association of Governments’ Regional Council.
Completing the form is safe and easy. Information collected on the census form remains confidential and is collected for statistical purposes only. The updated data is used to distribute federal funds to community programs and services that support schools, roads, health care, public housing and public safety. The data is also used to help determine fair government representation and inform leaders in the public and private sector who make decisions regarding new business development and jobs, location of new schools and housing developments, and other impactful economic activities.
