One aspect of PAG’s wastewater management process is water quality permit reviews, or consistency reviews for a regional approach to planning for the treatment of wastewater in Pima County.
PAG’s 208 Plan provides policy and management direction for wastewater in Pima County. Regional wastewater planning is coordinated with the region’s three designated management agencies – Pima County, Town of Sahuarita and Town of Marana. The three agencies are responsible for ensuring that wastewater service is provided in their management areas.
Under state and federal regulations, all new or significantly changed wastewater treatment facilities must align with the 208 Plan before permits may be issued. PAG’s 208 amendment and coordination processes for relevant new or changing water quality permits are outlined in the 208 Plan.
