Served in this capacity since:
Feb. 14, 2022, for the Town of Sahuarita; in city management in Arizona since February 2000.
Professional background:
City/Town Administration:
- Town Manager – Gila Bend
- Town Manager – Wickenburg
- Deputy Town Manager – Queen Creek
- City Manager – Nogales
- Deputy Town Manager – Flagstaff
- Town Manager – Sahuarita
Civic/Community Involvement:
Very active in my church and participate in the town’s signature events. As an Eagle Scout in the BSA, I continue to support the development of our youth.
Region’s most pressing issue in your opinion:
RTA Next. Investment in our region’s transportation systems provides our respective residents with safe and reliable routes within their neighborhoods as well as to their jobs, shopping and recreational activities. As our communities continue to grow, the continuation of the RTA sales tax will help us meet our larger regional needs that as individual jurisdictions, we would be hard pressed to complete.
Region’s best opportunity for economic success:
Continued collaboration and consensus building. Recognizing we all bring something important to the table.
What do you like best about what is currently happening at the regional level?
Our residential growth shows we are attracting people from other areas of the country and with those new residents come new commercial opportunities. New employers and manufacturers benefit the entire region regardless of which jurisdiction they are located in.
Why is regional collaboration important to you?
The challenges faced by the Town of Sahuarita are like those being faced by other jurisdictions in the region. Regional collaboration allows us to take advantage of the various organizations’ perspectives and lessons learned, it provides opportunities to interact and share information and innovate creative solutions. Additionally, some issues, such as traffic congestion and air quality expand outside of jurisdictional borders and can’t be solved by a single jurisdiction acting alone.
What’s your No. 1 priority in your current role?
Preparing the town’s organization to meet the service demands of a community that continues its rapid growth trajectory for the foreseeable future.
