The Pima Association of Governments Regional Council and Regional Transportation Authority Board recently elected its 2024 officers among its members of each governing body.
Serving as PAG Regional Council Chair for 2024 is Pima County Vice Chair Rex Scott.
South Tucson Mayor Paul Diaz will serve as Vice Chair. Marana Mayor Ed Honea will serve as Regional Council Treasurer.
On the RTA Board, Arizona State Transportation Board Member Ted Maxwell will serve as 2024 Chair.
Oro Valley Mayor Joe Winfield will serve as Vice Chair on the RTA Board. Sahuarita Mayor Tom Murphy will serve as Second Vice Chair.
The PAG Regional Council and RTA Board elect new officers at the first meeting of each year. The officers serve for one year.
In addition, RTA Board members continue to develop a new 20-year regional transportation plan to identify and fund transportation enhancements. The current voter-approved, 20-year RTA plan and countywide half-cent sales tax expire on June 30, 2026.
This year will be a substantial year for the new officers and all members, as they preside over the development and completion, respectively, of two required multi-year planning documents – the 30-year Regional Mobility and Accessibility Plan and 5-year Transportation Improvement Plan.
The chief elected officials of local, county, state and tribal governments serve on the PAG Regional Council and RTA Board. The nine leaders work together to represent the greater Tucson region in matters of transportation planning, air quality, water quality and economic vitality.
